Temporary Pause in Nursing Home Care Compare Updates

Please be advised that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has temporarily paused updates to the Nursing Home Care Compare Five Star Rating System, effective July 30, 2025, through September 2025. This pause follows CMS’s transition to iQIES, which replaced the legacy QIES platform.

CMS has noted that this temporary pause ensures the accuracy and reliability of publicly reported nursing home quality data during the system transition. Regular updates are expected to resume in October 2025.

During this period:

  • Star ratings and other data on Nursing Home Care Compare will remain static.
  • SNFs must continue to publicly display their most recent CMS-2567 Statement of Deficiencies.
  • Additional inspection and compliance information remains accessible via FOIA requests or through state survey agencies.

For further details, please refer to the attached memorandum QSSAM-25-1-ALL or contact CMS at BetterCare@cms.hhs.gov.
